California is a home-rule-class city in Campbell County, Kentucky, United States. It had a population of 90 as of the 2010 census.

California is found in southeast Campbell County at 38deg55’9”N 84deg15’48”W (38.919144; -84.263381), near the Ohio River. Kentucky Route 8 runs just west of the community. It leads northwest (downstream), along the river 23 mi (37 km), to Covington, and southeast (upstream), 21 miles (34 km), to Augusta. Clermontville in Ohio’s Clermont County is directly across the river from
California. However, Interstate 275 is 14 miles (23km) further downstream.

History of California, Kentucky
California, Kentucky, was established ca. 1849 and was named after news reports about the California Gold Rush. California has had a post office since 1852. California was established as a city in February 1874.

According to the 2000 census, California, KY had 86 residents, 26 households, and 21 families. The average population density was 358.2 per square mile (138.4/km2).
