History of Stadium in Florence, Kentucky
The Stadium history in Florence, Kentucky, is a storied one. The venue has been home to countless sporting events, musical performances, and other special occasions. But it all started with a simple baseball game.
In the early 1900s, the Florence Red Sox was a minor league baseball team playing home games at a small ballpark on Main Street. One day, a local businessman had the idea to build a new and improved stadium for the team. He recruited a group of investors, and construction began on what would eventually become the Florence Stadium. The new Stadium was completed in time for the Red Sox season in 1914. It quickly became clear that the Stadium was too small for the growing crowds of fans. So, just two years later, an expansion project was completed that doubled the size of the facility.
