Turfway Park is an American horse racing track located just outside the city limits to the north of Florence, Kentucky. The track hosts both thoroughbred and standardbred racing. Pinnacle Entertainment owns it. The main track is a one-mile (1.6 km) oval with races contested over six furlongs to 1 1/8 miles (9 furlongs). There is also a seven-furlong inner turf course.
Turfway Park was originally known as Latonia Downs when it opened in 1959. The name was changed to Turfway Park (a combination of “turf” and “highway,” signifying the track’s location on the newly built Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport freeway) in 1986. In 1994, the track was purchased by the Keeneland Association. In 2006, Pinnacle Entertainment acquired Turfway Park as part of its purchase of Hollywood Casino at Keeneland Racetrack.
